July 2021 – UV Safety Awareness Month

During the month of July, we like to emphasis a lot on how important it is to protect your skin and your eyes from the sun specially in Houston Tx. July is UV safety awareness, which is right in time for the summertime. People tend to forget to protect their skin by not using sunscreen or protecting your eyes.
About 5 million or more have gotten skin cancer due to exposure of the sun and got in to Palliative or Hospice Care in Houston TX..

Ultraviolet
UV also known as ultraviolet becomes very dangerous because it is invisible to see or notice. These are rays that come from the sun that gives off radiation. This is also included in tanning beds.
There are three types of UV light
-UVA: can penetrate deep inside the skin
-UVB: is what usually causes a sunburn.
-UVC: is what is in the outer layer of earth so it can’t pass further.
The highest levels of the sun usually are during noon time.
There are some complications when it comes to not protecting yourself from the sun such as:
-eye damage and vision changes.
-weak immune system.
-aging of the skin.
-skin cancer
How to protect yourself from the sun
Wearing cover ups is a great start to protect your face from the rays. Having a hat or shades to protect your face is important to think about on your next beach day out. Avoiding the sun is something to keep in mind when out. Going near the shade can be beneficial and can also keep you cool.
Having sun protection for employees is a must and is encouraged. Having tents or shade for employees can help protect their skin and prevent skin cancer. Having sunscreen at reach for anytime is useful to have.
Using the right sunscreen to protect your skin is the most important part. You must use SPF of 15 or higher.
Skin cancer
People tend to get skin cancer through tanning beds. There are more cases amongst tanning beds for skin cancer. Squamous skin cancer is the most common cancer caused by overexposure of UV radiation. It is important to stay on track of your skin.
