What are the four level of hospice care?
There are usually four levels of hospice care in any hospice facility. People who have Medicare qualify for these four levels of care.
The four levels of hospice care are:
Routine home care: routine care is the basic regular hospice care that could be provided by home or a hospice facility. This includes all services a hospice care has such as, bereavement and spiritual support, medication, and more.
Continuous home care: this service is a bit different and allows home care with a nurse attending the patient for a certain amount of time.
General inpatient care: this type of care is for patients that have extreme pain and need assistance asap for short amount of time. This is generally for only to pain relief and help the patient to be back with family members.
Respite care: respite care is used a lot for pain relief. This is a short-term care in which helps plan out certain support needed for a patient to have relief. This is usually given at hospice facilities, nursing homes, hospitals and more.
Usually, your healthcare provider determines the level of hospice care needed for the patient. From there you will be given an assessment to identify which one best suits you.
