Pain Awareness Month September

September is pain awareness month. This was created to help better understand how treatments work and how patient suffer with a lot of pain. This will improve the latest pain treatments and help enhance them to help patients with pain.

History
About 100 million American’s suffer from chronic pain. Usually, these people have some sort of disease or cancer. When someone has pain its usually a sign of some illness needed to be checked.
Pain awareness month was established for patients that live with chronic pain every day and unfortunately effects their way of living.
This month was first established by the American Chronic Pain Association in 2001. From their organizations and health care facilities helped spread awareness.
With covid-19 being our main issue this year, has increased our awareness even more with so many patients suffering from Covid.
Addiction
Pain usually can lead towards addiction for some people. They could become to anxious and desperate for relief in either physical or mental pain. Substance abuse is what patients that can’t control their pain much longer lead towards.
Not being able to sleep properly due to pain is also another way that people could fall under addictions. Sleep disturbances due to pain is another big factor people deal with on a daily basis.
Spreading Awareness
Understand how to properly manage pain treatments and use them properly is very important. Spreading awareness and recognizing the effects pain carries along many Americans is very alarming.
